You were warmed up with the summer tennis season opening, and now you know your backhand from your overhead smash, so you’re ready for the historic tennis fortnight.

You’re ready to enjoy the nail biting next few weeks which could see Andy Murray crowned champion once more. But do you have all the necessaries for the season in hand? To calm your nerves, and save your nails, we’ve put together 5 tips to get you fully prepped for one of the best moments of the summer…

  1. Strawberries, cream, and tennis…

This culinary tradition was born in 1877, where strawberries and cream were served for the first tournament. As British tradition dictates, stock up on strawberries and cream before you start cheering for your favourite player, but don’t forget to save some of your strawberries for your jug of Pimm’s.

  1. Tennis championship home screening…

Unless you are part of a very selective club, you will sometimes have to camp the night before to get tickets for the game of the day. If you are not an avid fan of camping, and queuing, but still have FOMO about missing the action on centre court, why not organise your own tennis season party? Check out our big screen TVs and make sure to have enough seats and refreshments for your tennis crew.

  1. But if you are game for outdoor viewing…

If you would rather get in amongst the action outside, make sure that you have your picnic sets ready to go. You can’t have a picnic without a hamper (including the aforementioned strawberries), a picnic blanket, and binoculars – just in case your spot is a little further away than anticipated…

  1. Game, sip and match…

But, the tennis season is not all about the action on the grass court… it’s also about another British tradition, tea and cake. Here is your chance to organise your own tennis-related afternoon tea and swap Pimm’s for a cup of tea and a scone. Fancy!

  1. Get inspired…

If you’ve always fancied getting out onto the grass courts but haven’t got round to fully realising your Andy Murray dream, why not look at taking your ambition one step further? Start out on your road to the national tennis tournaments with the basics: tennis lessons and a pair of tennis rackets. You’ll be a tennis pro in no time!
