Get involved in National Upcycling Week

Always fancied trying your hand at upcycling? Have an abandoned upcycling project that could benefit from some new skills? We have just the events for you. This National Upcycling Week, you are invited to add a string to your upcycling bow and learn how your old items can be transformed into beautiful, fully functional upcycled wonders.

At our selected upcycling workshops, we will be showing you how to breathe new life into an old piece of furniture to refashioning your wares, the upcycling possibilities are endless. Check out our workshops below and see how you can get involved.

 

Petit Miracles (#1)

  • Workshop: Power tools and DIY your own vintage coat rack
  • What: Doesn’t matter if you’ve never held a hammer, or don’t know your lug nuts from your wall plugs. Our workshop will give you the know-how and the confidence to tackle basic DIY jobs around your own home. Not only will you get hands-on experience, you will also receive valuable insight into the various accessories and attachments that can be used, as well as offering tips, tricks, and techniques for using power tools and woodworking methods.
  • When: 24 June 2017, 11am-5pm

Petit Miracles (#2)

  • Workshop: Learn how to upcycle furniture
  • What: The workshop will cover minor furniture repairs, sanding, painting, waxing and finishing furniture. Feel free to work on our furniture, or, if you have a small item (chair, stool, etc.) you can bring that into work on.
  • When: 1 July 2017, 1-4pm
  • Where: 1st Floor, West12 Shopping Centre, London, W12 8PP

 

 

Pauline Keenoy

  • Workshop: Upholstery workshop
  • What: Work on your own upholstery or restoration project in a small group supported by your tutor Pauline Keenoy.
  • When: Saturday 24th from 10.30 am – 4.30 pm
  • Where: Damside Mill, Haworth, BD22 8RA, West Yorkshire

 

 

Stipple and Dab (#1)

  • Workshop: Furniture Painting
  • What: Everything you need to know about painting real furniture by professional furniture and Kitchen Painters
  • When: Sat 24.06 from 10 am to 4 pm
  • Where: 20a Muggeridge Farm, Battlesbridge Antique Centre, Essex SS117RF

 

Stipple and Dab (#2)

  • Workshop: Upcycling a wooden pallet
  • What: Taking an ordinary wooden pallet and turning it in to something much more useful
  • When: Saturday 01.07 from 10 am to 2 pm
  • Where: 20a Muggeridge Farm, Battlesbridge Antique Centre, Essex SS117RF

 

Wivenhoe Repair Reuse Recycle (#1)

  • Workshop: Odd One Out
  • What: Recycling odd socks and gloves into soft toys and keepsakes. Participants will need to bring their odd socks or gloves. All other materials and equipment will be provided.
  • When: Tues 27.06 from 11am to 2pm

Wivenhoe Repair Reuse Recycle (#2)

  • Workshop: Don’t Despair Repair!
  • What: In this workshop you will learn TV remote repair, how to keep that kettle boiling, iron cleaning, decorative sofa rip repair and finally, the magic of Soda Crystal to clear and clean.
  • When: Tues 27.06 from 11am to 2pm

Wivenhoe Repair Reuse Recycle (#3)

  • Workshop: Plastic Fantastic!
  • What:This up-cycling workshop will be using plastic bottles as our core creative material. Turn a plastic bottle into a beautiful candle lit lotus flower. Participants will need to bring plastic bottles from their recycling bin.
  • When: Tuesday 27th June from 11am to 2pm

The Wood Pile (#1)

  • Workshop: Women’s Joinery Workshop
  • What: The aim of the Women’s Joinery Workshop 4 is to teach the fundamental knowledge, skill, and confidence in the proper, effective use of the basic essential hand tools for practical, high-quality joinery.
  • When: June 24, 2017, 10:30 am – 12:30 pm
  • Where: DBI Services, Rennys Lane, Dragonville, Durham

 

 

The Wood Pile (#2)

  • Workshop: Shabby Chic Workshop
  • What: We ask you to bring along a small table, lamp or a small box type item i.e. jewellery box, Knick Knack type box etc. that you want to give a Shabby Chic finish if you do not have anything suitable we do have small pieces of furniture available on the day for purchase. We will give you 2 different types of chalk paint to use (max 250ml each colour).
  • When: July 1, 2017 10:30 am – 1:30 pm
  • Where: DBI Services, Rennys Lane, Dragonville, Durham

 

 

Transition Bournemouth

  • Workshop: Bournemouth Repair Cafe
  • What: At our Repair Café events you can bring along your broken items from home and various ‘fixers’ will be available to help make any possible repairs free of charge. Tools and materials will also be on hand. Toasters, clothes, bikes, toys, crockery… anything that is broken is welcome.
  • When: Tuesday 24/06 from 2 pm to 4 pm
  • Where: BH11 8DU, Cunningham Crescent, Henry Brown Youth Centre

 

The Crafts Collective

  • Workshop: Up cycling Crafts
  • What: A workshop dedicated to upcycling and the love of the craft. Choose from vintage maps to create a bespoke picture for a loved one or create your own candles using a range of bespoke and carefully selected china, glass, and enamelware or up-cycle some beer bottles for a slightly different look!
  • When: Saturday 1st July 2017 from 11am to 1pm
