You know the drill, school is out and the kids are happy, but how long will this last?! With the new school year still another month away, there is a lot of time to kill… For those among us who are blessed with particularly active kids, this unusual period of rest can be a challenging.

To soothe your worries we’ve put together 6 ways to entertain the kids during their summer holiday, guaranteed to stop unwanted chiming of ‘I’m bored!’.

  1. Get outdoorsy with a picnic

What better way to enjoy cherries and watermelons than in a green field or the city park? Grab a picnic hamper and fill it with some summer treats… Or maybe invest in a picnic table for your garden.

2. Check out summer camp…

As much as we love them – sometimes it’s nice to have the kids out of the house and take a break from cleaning after them to catch up on life. Perhaps they’re ready for their first adventure away from home and make new friends and explore what nature has to offer at summer camp?

3. …or go camping with the little ones.

For a real family adventure with lots of stories to tell, take the kids on a camping trip. And of course you know where to get all the camping essentials – from tents in all shapes and sizes and camping chairs to camping cookers, we’ve got everything you need for a fun-filled family camping trip!

4. Get your bake on

If the kids are bored of eating ice cream, why not start a family bake off? Get started by browsing through some recipes before you display your sweet master pieces on one of these cake stands. And if you’ve got your hands full, let the little ones create imaginary baked goods in one of these play kitchens.

5. Build a swing in your garden

Since you’ve got plenty of time on your hands, the summer is the perfect time to start a DIY project in your garden. Make a plan, pick up some tools on our site and bond with the kids while building your very own swing set… and enjoy the sense of achievement!

6. Build a den

Being allowed to stay up late is one of the joys of summer! Help the kids make the most out of their holiday bedtime by providing blankets and pillows for one last adventure mission for the day.
